The name came first in Cartagena.
A gentleman there looked at me and called me Don Panchito. He said it like he was recognizing something that had already been there for a long time — not a nickname, but an attitude. A way of moving through the world.
That moment stayed with me. Not because it was clever, but because it felt true. Years later, when I walked away from corporate marketing rooms and started carrying bags on the Sunshine Tour, the name came back to me. It wasn’t something I invented. It was something someone had already seen in me.
Don Panchito isn’t a brand character we created in a meeting. He’s an attitude that existed before the logo, before the products, before any of it. A way of showing up to the game — and to life — that some people just recognize when they see it.
Don Panchito is an attitude. A way of life. A way of thinking.
The name wasn’t chosen because it sounded good on a hat. It was given because it fit. And once it was spoken out loud in Cartagena, it was only a matter of time before it found its way onto the course.
